
Technology is the greatest tool for humans. In today's world, technological advancement has made the world smaller by bridging the gap between the generations. No doubt, technology has a lot of benefits; however, it has the potential to be misused as it also comes with a negative side. To put it simply, cyberbullying refers to the misuse of information with the intention to harass others. It takes place on social media, public forums, and other online information websites.
Cyberbullying has become very common nowadays. Every time it doesn't mean hacking someone's profile or else making someone's fake account. Cyberbullying also comprises posting negative comments about somebody and spreading rumours to defame someone. As everyone is active on the social network, it makes it very easy for anyone to misuse this access.

Cyberbullying is an extremely important topic and needs to be in limelight to become a warning for the upcoming generation. It needs to be taken seriously as it does have a lot of dangerous effects on the victim.
Cyberbullying affects the mental health of a person. It disturbs the peace of mind of a person. Many people get depressed after they are cyberbullied. It leads to a lot of insecurities and complex situations. The victim which suffers cyberbullying in the form of harassing starts having selfdoubt. They may also indulge in self-harm.

(1) Make your child aware.
In this digital era, childrens are growing up with technology at their fingertips. Teenagers and adolescents are more vulnerable to cyberbullying as they have limited understanding of the good and the bad. So as a parent, it's your responsibility to be aware of your child's online activities. Keep watching the apps and digital platforms your child is using. Engage your child in other offline activities. Notice if there is any abnormal change in the behaviour or mood.
(2) Don't respond immediately.
The aim of a lot of cyberbullying is to annoy, irritate, upset or confuse the person who is being targeted so that they directly react. In case if you're cyberbullied, keep in mind that the person who's targeting you wants you to respond. So the best strategy for dealing with this situation is not to give them what they, are looking for. If someone is tagging you on the wrong post or else saying you something really nasty. Just do one thing, keep your phone down for one hour give yourself some time to think, before you respond.
(3) Take screenshots.
Screenshots are the best way to report an instance for cyberbullying. Because the person who is cyberbullying you will remove his tags and can delete his comments. But..but he can't delete screenshots from your phone. Screenshots will ensure that you have a copy of what was said.
(4) Report and Block
Most of the social media sites have a lot of built-in tools to keep you safe. Don't respond to them again and again. Just block them and report them with the reason.
(5) Protect your accounts.
The most important part, never ever share your internet password and account details with anyone. Keep all this information to yourself alone. Be alert and do not click on mysterious links, they may be scams.
(6) Tell someone who can help you out.
Often, teens to tell their parents and others if they are a victim of cyberbullying. This gap arises in communication between the child and the parent due to fear or embarrassment. But you need to speak up for help anyhow Because this is not at all a light matter.
Apart from these things, keep in mind that you avoid posting explicit photos of yourself online. Also, never discuss personal matters on social media. In other words, keep the information limited within your group of friends and family.
